Pregnancy: Part 7 - Showers

Hello all!

Rob, Baby T, and I were so blessed by sweet friends that wanted to host showers to help celebrate Baby T's upcoming arrival. What a blessing these sweet events were! They really helped Rob and I amp up and get excited about our little guy. So here's a quick recap of those :)

Our first shower was given by some sweet co-workers and friends of mine at First Baptist Academy, where I worked this past school year. The girls did such a great job, and Rob and I were overwhelmed with my co-workers' generosity and kindness towards us and baby. We were so thankful!

Super cute cookies, cupcakes, and decor.

Food spread and centerpiece. Chick-fil-a nuggets were a major asset here for this pregnant gal. :)

Sweet hostesses, Catherine, Katheryn, and Katie. Thankful for these three and their friendship!

Rob was a champ and came to help open presents.

Presents for our little guy!

Our next shower was one given by my besties and it was here in Houston. It was SUPER cute, and it was so fun to have all of my favorites in one room (that rarely happens!). They did such a great job with every single detail - the invitations, the food, drinks, decor, and activities...everything was perfect. The theme was "Monograms and Mimosas," so everything was centered around little guys initials. So, so cute!!

Sweet hostesses and some babies thrown in there... :)

Food table and diaper cake. The food was so yummy!!

They did such a great job on the cute decor

Super cute drink table

Loved opening all of his presents with monograms...so fun!

Sweet friends...

Presents!

My sweet mom came in to help celebrate.

So, so thankful for these friends and who they are. Not sure what I would do without them!

Our last shower was given in my hometown. It was a huge blessing to have some women that really helped raise me there.  It was so fun to see everyone again, and we were so blessed by everyone's generosity.

Sweet ladies.

High school friends! And our moms walked the track while we were both in utero. :)

Love these two! Thankful they came!

Rob's mom, Rob and I. Again, he was such a trooper!

Teaching friends from my first year of teaching.

My mom and I accidentally matched...down to the floral lace shape. Oops!

T loves his Auntie Lo! haha

Three of my hostesses. Unfortunately missed snapping a pic before a few of them left!

It was such a fun day, and we drove back to Houston with a VERY full SUV. Thankful, thankful!

Rob's work wanted to throw a shower, but we decided to have a "sip-n-see" (if that's even possible in a male-dominated oil and gas company) just in case little man made an early arrival. Now that we are nearing his due date, I know we should have just had it, but it will be fun to let the little guy meet all of Rob's co-workers after he is here.

We have been so showered with love and generosity as we near his arrival, and we are truly thankful for all those that the Lord has placed in our life in this stage. We could not feel more loved and supported as we jump off into this next phase!

More soon!

Pregnancy: Part 6 - Third Trimester

Hello all!

I am going to pick up with the third trimester in this post. The third trimester brought with it lots of rest and relaxation. Because I was finished with school, I had a lot of time to work on the nursery and prepare for little man's arrival.  It was really fun to be able to focus just on him and this next phase of our lives. I am so thankful for this time, as I think it has really helped me to transition and change my perspective about life and all that the future holds. I traditionally have a tough time with change, so I think that this time has been very healthy for me. Instead of just having to jump in right with baby after school was finished, I feel like I have gotten to ease into it. I truly think God knew I needed this time, so I am so thankful.

I continued to take weekly photos, and Rob and I tried to cram in all that we could in the way of trips and activities.  :) I really continued to feel great, so nothing was really off limits except for some physical limitations.

We spent time at the ranch with Rob's parents.

We took an impromptu weekend to Austin to celebrate Rob's 30th birthday.

(Lounging at the pool looked a little different this time...)

We visited Lake Amistad with my family for some fishing and relaxing.

I missed week 31...

We even took a breastfeeding class together. Rob was...so...excited. :)

I missed week 35, too...

We also got to have our last sonogram at 35 weeks, and all looked well. I know I'm a little biased, but his cute little profile just makes me giddy with excitement to have him in the flesh. He is just so darn cute!

We also got to see a little bit of the 3D shot. Wow!! Getting to see his actual face structure took my breath away. I think he really looks like my younger brother, Price...which is crazy. But to me, they are little twins! I can't wait to see what he really looks like! Not too long now!

Rob and I have been taking full advantage of going out on lots of dates, getting out of the house, meeting with friends, relaxing at the pool, etc. It seems like everyone keeps telling us to "enjoy every second" of our time together without little man. We definitely are, but I feel like we have been really taking advantage of the time with each other for the four+ years we have been together, especially lately. :)  I know as soon as our little guy is here, I will be craving some time alone with Rob, but since that is all I have ever known, I feel like we are ready to welcome our peanut. Rob is beyond excited for him to be here...I think he's just excited about not having to give me back rubs each night. :)  He has been so, so supportive and accommodating, and he has really made me feel beautiful in this whole process of watching my body change so drastically. I absolutely cannot wait to watch him as a daddy to our little man.

I am still feeling pretty good. We had an appointment on Wednesday and I am still 50% effaced with no dilation. I had a little meltdown at lunch when Rob and I were talking about our timeline. I think I was just expecting to have made a little more progress. There are days when I feel like I am going to be pregnant forever and ever. Then I will have days like yesterday, when I am not certain we are all the way ready for all of the changes that are about to happen. I just have to trust that he will come in God's timing and when he is good and ready!

More soon about our babymoon, showers and his nursery!

Pregnancy: Part 5 - End of 2nd Trimester

Hello all!

I left off my last post with the middle of the second trimester, so I'll pick up there.

Immediately after our gender reveal, we were so attached to our little man. It made it so much more real to envision our lives with him and picture what he might be like. It was so fun! I felt like we could buy clothes and pick out bedding and buy decorations for his room and choose a NAME! :) We were so excited to start making all of the decisions.

I continued to take weekly photos...or I tried, at least!

Aaaaaand...here's where we started to really see progress! :)

Uncle Price is determined to keep his little guy well-dressed. He can't wait for his little twin to arrive, and I can't wait to see them together. This was one of little man's first outfits!

At 24 weeks, I had to take my glucose test to test for gestational diabestes. Call me crazy, but I actually didn't mind the glucose drink. Is it bad to say that I kind of liked it?? #sugaraddict

For Easter, we headed to Port Aransas for a nice relaxing weekend at the beach with my mom and Stephen. The hotel where we stayed had a continental breakfast. Can you guess which plate is mine and which is Rob's?? :)  Nothing like pregnancy hunger!

My sweet sister-in-law got to travel to Houston for work, and it was so good to get to spend just a little bit of time together. She is two weeks ahead of me, and we talk often, but it was fun to have her in the flesh and spend time together. We had to laugh, though, because she came down on Cinco de Mayo, typically a day we have celebrated with margaritas :)  It was really tough to be out in Texas on Cinco de Mayo and not partake in that, but we were good little mamas. We were given some Cinco de Mayo glam to sport, so we had to!

During our second trimester, we also completed our birthing class. It was four Mondays in the evenings, and Rob was a champ throughout it all. He was quite the supportive partner. :)  He said he even deserves a "partner push present." Who ever heard of that?!?

We also picked out little man's crib and Rob put it together. It was so fun to have the first piece up in the nursery!

At 27 weeks, I finished school. It was a little bittersweet as my students knew I wasn't returning. They kept asking me, "Are you sure you want to RETIRE???" It was a little tough, but I was also very excited to enter into this next phase. So, I cleaned out my classroom (for the 6th time...no lie. I have changed classrooms or schools every single year that I have taught) and gave all but 3 small boxes of my teaching stuff away. I was also very excited to get to spend more time getting ready for our little guy. Nursery pics coming soon!

So that about wraps up the second trimester! I am now 37 weeks, so I better step up my game if I am going to get all of pregnancy documented before he gets here! We had an appointment yesterday, and I am not dilated at all, but am effaced about 50%. Obviously, this doesn't mean much, but it is so neat how God has orchestrated our bodies to start the process as the time approaches. We can't wait to meet him!

More soon,
