Sweet Isla

Hello all!

Well, summer is well under way (in fact, my summer is almost over!! Yikes!) and I am enjoying every minute of it. My post today is about a very important addition that has entered the world that I had the pleasure of being a part of at the very beginning of summer. Miss Isla Joyce Prewett (finally!) made her appearance on Monday, June 4th and she is absolutely wonderful. Lauren and Trevor are already such great parents, and I am taking serious notes :) Here's a quick recap of little Isla's story.

Preparation for Isla began in March when we threw a shower for Lauren and Baby Prewett. Because we didn't know the gender until she was born, we kept it pretty gender neutral. We had a blast prepping for and throwing the shower. We think it turned out pretty cute!

Isn't she precious?!?

Initially, Isla was supposed to be born on May 29th, right in the middle of my hectic last week of school. Because I was leaving Stanley, it meant that I had to pack up EVERYTHING in my room and move it to my new school that last week. This is on top of all of the end of the year chaos and to-do lists that come with 20 nine and ten year olds in a classroom. So to throw an impromptu visit to Corpus Christi and drive back all in one night had me a little nervous. I couldn't NOT go. But I tried really hard sending little subliminal messages to Isla...and apparently, it worked! (I owe you one later, Isla!) And while her mom would have loved for her to come then, I was (not so secretly) very grateful that she decided to bake a little bit longer. Lauren was supposed to be induced on the Sunday after school got out, so I headed out to Corpus that morning and got there just in time for Lauren's contractions to start being pretty consistently 4-6 minutes apart.

Headed to the hospital! So exciting!

We headed to the hospital and Lauren and Trevor got all checked in. Then the waiting game began...oh, the waiting game. From about 3:30 that afternoon to around 7:30 that evening, we all just hung out in Lauren's room. She was pretty relaxed (thank you epidural!) so we all just chatted and chilled. We picked up dinner, and then hung out some more.

Just waiting....

At one point, the nurse told us that it was still going to be a while, so the parents left and we did too a little later. At around 12:00 a.m. or so, Trevor texted us to say that Lauren had progressed pretty quickly and that maybe heading back up there was a good idea. Johnna and I were there in a few minutes and Lauren's contractions were getting more intense. Around 2:30 a.m., they kicked us out as it was "go-time" for Lauren to start pushing. :) We were so, so excited.

In the waiting room, the 4 parents, Johnna, and Lauren's sister Cara, and I began the intense waiting game. Because we didn't know the gender, we couldn't wait to hear from Trevor who would tell us all what little Baby Prewett was. Four LONG hours later, he came around the corner and told us...

We raced back to the room to see mommy and Baby Isla for the first time. She was just perfect.

Holding her for the first time (and yes, I am still in the same clothes...it was a LONG night)

Aunt Johnna with baby. She's such a good auntie.

Just the girls :)

She couldn't get any cuter...

Your aunties love you so much!

Love this precious little girl.

I can't wait to see who this little gift turns into and cannot wait to be a part of her life as she grows up. We are SO glad you are here, Isla!!

 More soon,
