I've Done it Again...

Now that it is officially summer, I will hopefully get to catch up on a few blogs I have been meaning to write. We had a pretty busy Spring that FLEW by, but we loved every minute of it. :) Here's another quick recap. (Someday I will get to where I don't have to include 3 months into one blog post.)

As tough as this past school year was, I was extremely blessed by the friendship and camaraderie that my teammates gave me this past year. I am very thankful for them and for their friendship. I truly could not have done this past year without them. Below is a picture with some of my favorites from this year. With that said, I think I have forgotten to mention some very important news! In February, I was contacted by the headmaster of the lower school at First Baptist Academy in Houston. After several interviews and an unofficial offer in March, they offered me a first grade position, and I am happy to say that in April, I accepted! I absolutely cannot wait to begin my journey with the faculty there (I have only moved my stuff in and already I feel so welcomed). I have heard wonderful things about the school and cannot wait to be a part of their family. 

In April, Rob and I hosted Easter at our house. My mom, Price, and Rob's parents all made the trek to Houston. We enjoyed dinner on Friday with Price and my mom, breakfast with Rob's family on Saturday, and then the guys went and played golf that afternoon. Mom and I went on a long walk and shopped a bit. That evening, we went out for sushi. Sunday morning, we went to church and then headed back to our place for lunch. It was great to have everyone there.

Also in April, we celebrated our sweet Jonah's 9th birthday. He loved his birthday bone (and I'm pretty sure if you zoom in, you can see some drool). We took him out to dinner that night at a pet friendly restaurant, and he loved being out and seeing all of his friends. We just love him so much! Happy birthday, buddy!

In May, we headed to College Station and checked out A&M's new baseball stadium. It looks awesome. We also had the rare opportunity to see one of A&M's pitchers throw a no-hitter. Pretty cool experience.

That evening, we attended a baby shower of our dear friends Jordan and Danny Morchat. She looked lovely, as always, and we are so happy to help welcome little baby Maxwell into the world in just a few weeks. It was great to see old friends that night.

P.S. Pretty soon here, I will get to post about my favorite new addition to my life, my (almost) niece, Isla Prewett. She is precious, by the way. I am going to give her mom a chance to blog about her first and then you will get to hear all about her on here! Can't wait!

San Diego 2012

In February, Rob had a business trip planned to San Diego. Being the supportive (of course) wife that I am, I decided that I needed to go... :)

We left on February 14th and got in late that Tuesday night. Wednesday morning and all through the day, Rob had business meetings. I slept in, enjoyed breakfast on my balcony at our gorgeous hotel, explored the grounds, and then went shopping in La Jolla with the other (supportive) wives. :) That night we all headed to a sushi dinner and enjoyed catching up. It was a great first day.

The next day, the women headed to the San Diego Zoo. I had been to SD before, but had never gotten to go to the world famous zoo before, so I was excited to get to go. It was a great group that day (and I got to spend some good, quality time with Alison Rodriguez, one of my faves in the New Tech Wives Club...) :)

That night, we headed out to a great steak restaurant and then called it a night. We are so blessed by Rob's company and the opportunities that he has been given there. He truly does love his job, which is such an incredible gift. 

The next morning, Alison and I went for a run and accidentally got lost. :) Let's just say we ended up walking for a long time after we had to abandon the run, and I was sore for quite a few days from all of those hills. :) Good times. Thank goodness for construction workers and redirection... 

After that "vacation" really began. All of the other New Tech folks left, and Rob and I stayed behind to hit up downtown San Diego. We checked into our hotel in the Gaslamp District and then grabbed a late lunch. We found a great gem, Neighbors, which we will recommend to anyone who asks. It was eclectic and delicious.

That night we decided to take a Segway tour to learn more about downtown San Diego. If you'll remember, our first Segway tour was in New Orleans. Once again, we had a blast. Don't hate.

The next morning was a big morning for Rob Williams. Since we have started dating, he has always wanted me to go sailing with him. (He can't get enough of it.) I have always been a little leary of it because I can get seasick, but I decided to give it a try. It just happened to be the end of whale watching season (which we found out when we booked the tour), but we didn't get to see any whales. It was really chilly sailing on the Pacific, but we had a great time.

The rest of the afternoon we headed to Coronado Island to visit the famous Coronado Hotel. I had been there about 10 years ago with my family, but it was fun to cruise around the island with Rob. We shopped and enjoyed all of the cute little shops and eateries on the main strip.

We walked along the beach for a while and then we grabbed drinks and apps on the Coronado Hotel balcony.

That night, Rob and I went out on the town. :)  We hit a few rooftop bars and had a great time together. Us at the last bar that we hit.  

Our last morning, we decided to visit Balboa Park and see all that it had to offer. It really is an incredible place. One of our favorite places was the Botanical Garden building. 

The greenery was so incredible. 

This beautiful building is where an organist plays a public concert every Sunday. Neat building...

It was huge.

We hopped on a plane shortly after and headed home. It was a fabulous, much-needed trip for both of us. We can't wait to go back!

Keeping Us Busy...

I have to laugh. I started this post a few weeks ago. Originally it started out like this:

"Well, it's Spring Break around these parts, so I figured there's no excuse to NOT post something this week."

Apparently there IS an excuse not to post...haha. Anyway, because my last post was a while ago (and I am way behind), I have decided to do an all inclusive post. Hang on to your seats, folks. (This one's for you Marcy!)

Our last few months have looked like this:

Rob played in the Texas A&M Lacrosse Alumni game in the fall. He always has a good time reconnecting with his teammates that he played with while at school. They're still pretty legit, but I have a feeling in a few years the younger whipper snappers will catch up with their talent (or the younger guys will be in better shape...but don't tell them that).

Thanksgiving was fun this past year. We hosted my mom and Price at our house for Thanksgiving lunch and then headed to the  LAST Texas vs. Texas A&M game at Kyle Field. And although we won't talk about the results of the game, we still had a good time. 

Christmas came soon after, and once again, it was a whirlwind of a vacation. Rob only had a few days off since Christmas day was on a weekend, so the majority of my break was spent in Houston. We did get to spend time with both families this year. Here's Jonah posing in front of our tree. :)

We enjoyed our family time, but then headed back to Houston for the rest of the break. Shortly after, we helped welcome the newest member of the Moran family, Caleb, into the world. He was just precious!

Our typical New Years plans changed up a bit this past year, so Rob and I got to do a couple of different things for that night. This was our first stop, the Leiva's house. These are some of the precious ladies in a Bible Study group that I attend during the summers. Thankful for them!

One of Rob's favorite guys, Jordan, visited us from Africa for a few days during January. We were so glad to have him back in the states for a little while. We visited St. Arnold's Brewery while he was in town. 

I won the jackpot at our local Bingo hall on a fun night with some great friends while we were celebrating Kara's birthday.  Woohoo!

In February we headed to a Mardi Gras ball in Katy and had a great time that night. Those cajuns sure know how to have a good time. :) 

Of course our Spring wouldn't be complete without the Houston Rodeo. We got to go a few times this year, and we saw Lady Antebellum, Eli Young, and Blake Shelton. As always, we had a great time going.

We were honored and blessed to accept the role of godparents to this precious little guy, Luke Moran. He is certainly loved! This was the afternoon of his baptism. 

Rob and I ran our first 10K together and had a blast doing it. He continues to push me (in many ways!).

In the middle of March, we took a small trip the ranch. Jonah loves being there, so it is always fun to see him in his element. :)

Well, that at least gives an overview of the past few months. :) I'll post again on our trip to San Diego that we took in February and Lauren's shower that I just helped host. I hope everyone is doing well!
