My Favorite

In case you haven't heard... there's this guy that I am crazy about.  :)

His name is Rob.  He is...my favorite.  :)

This past week, my favorite turned 27.  His birthday, May 20th, fell on a Thursday, and since he is in Houston and I'm in Austin, it was going to be difficult to work in a celebration on a weekday.  This weekend he is with some of his best guys out at his ranch, so a celebration this weekend wouldn't have worked out.  Soooo, with high hopes that 290 had gotten shorter since the last time I had driven it, I hopped in the car right after school on Thursday to go have a short birthday shindig, just he and I.  I got into town right as he was getting off of work, and we got to meet up.  We didn't have a ton of time, but we did get to open a few presents and get a birthday dinner in at Fogo de Chao...yum.   It was so nice to be together...and on a Thursday!  I felt like we were cheating the long-distance relationship rule book or something.  I loved every minute of it.  :)  The one thing that I was sorry about was that we didn't get to celebrate with more family and friends.  There are so many people that love Rob, and I have no doubt we would have had a great time all celebrating his day.  Next year...it's happening! :)

At dinner.  Isn't he handsome??

Anyway, just a short blog to say that I am so happy this man is alive and in my life.  In 49 days, I get to be his Mrs. and I could not be more excited.  I cannot wait to be his roommate, his workout partner, and his dinner date on a Tuesday evening.  Can't wait.  He is perfect for me in every single way.  I am truly, truly blessed.

Ok, enough sappy rambling...  Happy birthday babe!!!

Doubles partners...and we still love each other!

About a week ago, Rob and I played together in our first mixed doubles tennis tournament, the World Oilman's Tennis Tournament (WOTT) ...and we lived!   Rob and I are both pretty competitive, so we really weren't sure how we were going to fare being on the same side of the court.  We actually ended up having a blast playing together.  We did much better than we thought we would do in our division, and it makes me really excited to get to Houston so we can really start practicing together.

There are tons of details that could be told about this weekend, but all in all, we had a blast being there together.  Pretty much the schedule the entire weekend beginning on Thursday is tennis all day, and then some sort of social event in the evening.  We loved getting to see old friends there, and met plenty of new couples we are sure to hang out with in the near future.  What a fun weekend!!  Unfortunately, being on the court took my mind off of snapping enough pics, but we had some great photographers that sent us a few from the weekend.  Most are of the court, but if I get more in of the evening events, I will post those later.

Oh, the intensity...

Look at that form :)

Having a blast...

Close up...right after being on the court.  We can't wait to play again next year!

Our one picture of an evening event is from the poolside party.  These are some of our new friends, Shannon and Chad.  We can't wait to visit them in Denver!

More soon!
Countdown:  54 days!  Getting closer!!!

First Wedding Shower

We had a great start to all of our wedding festivities!  Kathleen and Kristin threw us (me) our first wedding shower.  Several wonderful McBee co-workers showed up, along with my roommates.  Also, my bridesmaids came in and surprised me, which was awesome.  We had a lot of fun creating some pieces that we can use in the kitchen.  It was a great get-together that was pulled off well.  Thanks K & K!!

Here are a few pics from the shower.  I am so bummed that I didn't get one of the whole group!  Live and learn...

The wonderful hostesses, Kathleen and Kristin.  They are both wonderful friends from McBee.

The lovely ladies of 313 (you were missed, Steph!)

A few of my wonderful bridesmaids that came down and surprised me.  What a fun surprise!  This is what they made us.  Nice work!

What a wonderful treat to have my mother there!  I love that she was able to come.

More again soon!  And 2 months from now is the big day!  Can't wait!
